Kinesiotaping
Kinesiotaping is a Japanese taping technique that emerged at the 1988 Olympics. It has been used in the United States since 1996. The technique is based on: the knowledge of muscles; the physics of how muscles contract; re-education of muscles to work in proper alignment; proper usage of body tissues to decrease pain and inflammation.
Stellar Rehab’s therapists can kinesiotape to:
Reduce muscle spasms |
Facilitate muscle contraction |
Reduce tone and tension |
Provide ligamentous support |
Evacuate edema |
Access lympathic portals for lymph edema (through specialized taping) |
Myofascial Release
Myofascial Release is a gentle cross-hand technique whereby therapists realign impaired fascia, the body’s support system. The fascia is connective tissue that forms one continuous sheet from head to toe, surrounding every muscle, ligament, and organ in the body. Impairment in the fascia causes it to twist and turn, creating a pulling force and misalignment throughout the body. It can be the source of pain and dysfunction and is often overlooked by conventional medicine. With myofascial release techniques, Stellar Rehab’s therapists can help to facilitate the body’s healing process and promote realignment of the fascia system.
Anodyne Therapy
Anodyne Therapy is a modality used to alleviate pain and discomfort through use of infrared light. It is utilized to heal and treat muscle, tendon, and ligament injuries, as well as peripheral neuropathy, wounds, fibromyalgia, arthritis, lymphedema, and many other disorders.
During Anodyne Therapy, infrared light works by forcing the release of hemoglobin from red blood cells to allow a free radical molecule called nitric oxide to be released into the bloodstream. Nitric oxide is well known for its healing affects on pain, and building new blood vessels and collagen.
